Civic Engagement

ChineseinUS organizes and promotes civic engagement initiatives such as voter registration drives, candidate meet-and-greet events, and voter education seminars. We aim to increase voter turnout and promote civic awareness among Chinese Americans.

COVID-19

We partnered with Philly Counts to organize online epidemic information sessions for the community. We communicated with community members in various ways to address the challenges of attending online meetings during quarantine. A total of 1,124 people participated in the COVID-19 Community Response Captains, which were conducted in over four languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese, French, and Korean.

We exclusively collaborated with the city government, with over 270 participants, and worked with other partners, involving more than 240 participants. The Chinese-language sessions we participated in accounted for approximately 50% of the total training participants in Philadelphia.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we partnered with Philly Counts to establish the only local website dedicated to providing comprehensive COVID-19 information. We exclusively published COVID-19 data, ensuring the community had access to accurate and timely updates.

In collaboration with the city government’s health department and community organizations, we directly engaged with the community to facilitate COVID-19 vaccination efforts for residents. Our initiatives helped bridge the gap between the government and the Chinese-speaking community, ensuring that crucial health information and services were accessible to all.
